I am so excited to finally be able to share the book cover for Hyacinth – Book #3 of the Svatura Series!!!!
I’ve blogged about my book cover/title process before (click here). The book covers for this series have some specific elements: the flower, the title meaning, the swirlies in the background. Below are the covers for books 1 & 2 in the series – Blue Violet and Hyacinth.
The flower on the cover always reflects the title. But that flower also has additional meaning that relates to that book. “Crimson Dahlia” was selected as part of a contest to help me come up with the perfect title (click here to read more). Just before chapter 1 in each book I’ll have the meaning for that book’s flower. Here’s what it’ll say for Crimson Dahlia:
Crimson Dahlia is Lila’s and Ramsey’s book. It starts out where Hyacinth left off, with Lila captured by the big bad – Maddox, and Ramsey looking for her. As the third book in a four-book series, Crimson Dahlia will be the darkest thematically and situationally. The world always has to get really bleak before it can be saved. So the black background still work beautifully.
Instead of the swirls in the background that we used on Blue Violet and Hyacinth, we replaced those with smoke. Which is appropriate for a few reasons, the biggest being Ramsey’s ability to control fire. We used a dahlia flower that was a deep red tinged with black to keep with that darker theme and because it almost looks like the flower is charred which looked awesome with the smoke.
Could not be happier with the results! I hope you like it as much. So without further ado…
That's beautiful. When do we get the book? she asks eagerly..
