Abigail Owen Logo Reveal

Some time last year, I got a bee in my bonnet about having an official logo to put on things. Initially, I tried to put some ideas together myself using pieces of clipart to get the general concept. In the end I vetoed all my own designs for several reasons that aren’t important.

Around the same time, I kept seeing book covers that I just love and discovered they were all from the same graphic artist. When I looked on her website, I discovered that she does author branding as well. Check her out at http://www.maeidesign.com/.

We went through a couple of options and drafts, and now, I LOVE my final logo design. It’s a falcon!

If you’ve read any of my posts or comments about how I got started self-publishing, you’ll know that my inspiration for Blue Violet, my first finished book, was a girl who is a falcon shifter. In fact, the entire scene where Ellie, as a falcon, swoops down on her unsuspecting friends to protect them from an attacking pack of wolf shifters was the first scene I wrote for the book.

And my falcon is purple – one of my favorite colors – from an imagery and feeling standpoint, it can either go down the darker route (evening, royalty, blood) or take a lighter path (flowers, rainbows). On top of that, Regina put this this awesome subtle gradient in the color that reminds me of fire, or mirages, or other cool shimmery type images.

Super happy with the results! Look for this to pop up all over the place on my stuff and for me to try it with many different backgrounds and looks! I love this stuff. 🙂
