“Here, Kitty Kitty” is an anthology of six paranormal romance short stories featuring exotic cat shapeshifters. The anthology is slated for release October 6th, 2013. All profits from this anthology will go to charity to benefit the Exotic Feline Rescue Center in Indiana. Each week leading up to the release I’ll be putting the spotlight on one of the authors who have contributed to this project.
Here Kitty, Kitty
Author Spotlight: BR Kingsolver
Featured Feline: Jaguar
Story: Full Moon
The full moon can get a girl stirred up, especially with a handsome cowboy paying her way too much attention. If it wasn’t for those damned werewolves causing trouble and getting in the way…
Author Interview:
1. What inspired you to write about jaguar shifters?
I had been thinking about a shifter book for a while, and came up with a jaguar because it was unusual. I had a character and bare sketch of a plot, but it wasn’t enough for a full novel. When Mia contacted me about the anthology she was considering, I realized my plot would work nicely for a short story. But I didn’t have a romance in mind. Mia helped me with some ideas for that.
2. Is paranormal romance a favorite genre of yours?
I’m really not much of a romance reader. I’m more into urban fantasy, and if it contains a romance that’s okay. In my Telepathic Clans series, there are romances, but they aren’t the focus of the stories.
3. Is this your first collaboration with other authors? And how did you like it?
Yes, this is the first time I’ve worked with other authors on a project. I’m liking it. Writing is a very “alone” kind of activity, but working with others to promote the book is awesome. It really helps to hear other people’s ideas and to collaborate with them on getting the book noticed.
4. Tell us about your works in progress.
Broken Dolls, a paranormal suspense thriller, was just released Sept. 29, with a Bewitching Books blog tour starting Oct. 7. I’m currently working on the fourth book of The Telepathic Clans Saga, which will conclude the series. It will probably be published next year. I’m also writing a YA/NA paranormal romance about a Valkyrie going to university at Oxford.
Author Bio:
BR Kingsolver is the author of the Telepathic Clans series (The Succubus Gift, Succubus Unleashed, and Succubus Rising) and Broken Dolls, a paranormal thriller. I grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, among writers, artists and weird Hispanic and Native American myths and folklore. I’ve lived all over the U.S. and earned a living doing everything from making silver and turquoise jewelry, to construction to computers. I currently live in Baltimore and Albuquerque.
